Now we can see the first-ever lithium-ion rechargeable battery that is commercialized by Sony in 1991. It offers a significantly better power to weight ratio. Although initially, it has a much higher price, production cost drop as the cell phone’s popularity started to rise.
At the same time, many different types of Li-ion batteries are being developed.
But there are also many issues that come with this amazing technology. Which we will discuss later when we talk about issues that come with batteries.
The first-ever bendable battery is also developed in 1997.
This means that in the future when our devices starting to become more flexible and foldable, we can see this kind of battery being apply to those devices as well!
