Types of battery

What are some common types of battery?

There are lots of types of batteries that come with different names and forms. But how do we distinguish them and what are the differences? Other than primary and secondary batteries?

Well, that is not that hard!

Although batteries come with different shapes and sizes. The name of the battery indicates the electrode (anode and cathode), or the electrolytes that the battery use.

They all have different chemical reactions that happen inside the battery that work on the redox reaction.

For example, Zinc-carbon battery uses Zinc as the negative electrode (anode), and carbon as the positive electrode (cathode). And for Lead-acid, it uses lead sulfate as both positive and negative electrodes and uses sulfuric acid as electrolytes.

Different batteries have different roles and different reasons for using them. They all have their advantage and disadvantage. And there are different things that we consider as we compare different types of battery. Such as cost, construction, durability, energy density, and many other things.

So let’s find out what are some different batteries we have in the battery kingdom!
