Best of both world
Nickel-cadmium battery
So now we can see the advantage of a lead-acid battery, which is that it is rechargeable.
And we can also see the advantage of Zinc-Carbon battery, which is small, light and tough.
So how can we combine the best of both worlds and create a small, light, rechargeable battery?

Well, Waldemar Jungner has the answer for you. He invented the Nickel-Cadmium battery in 1899.
Unlike a lead-acid battery, it is much lighter, and unlike Zinc Carbon battery, it is rechargeable. This type of battery suddenly became very popular all around the world in places for mobile devices.

However, this is not the best solution as well because cadmium is toxic and can be harmful to the environment.
